Embracing Daylight Savings

Can you believe that October has already come and gone? And what a month it was for us here at Laser Image. Here's a little recap of how we celebrated the month of October.

LASER IMAGE Annual State Fair Day:

The Texas State Fair is well known nationwide for quite a few things, but it's most well known for one thing in particular, the smorgasbord of fried foods it has offers. Ranging from the world famous Texas State Fair corn dog, turkey legs, fried sticks of butter, fried Snickers bar, all the way to the delicious fried smore. But along with all the great food, the fair also offers a variety of games, car shows, art shows, rides and a multitude of other activities.

LASER IMAGE & The Trinity Strand Project

When voters approved bonds issues for the Trinity Strand project in 2003 and 2006, the City of Dallas immediately began constructing plans to re-build with the goal of infusing the industrial areas of the city with new life and more energy.

One of the ways the City of Dallas and its supporters have decided to rejuvenate the area is by building a two-mile hike-and-bike trail along the old Trinity River channel. This multi-million dollar project is only the first step to be taken toward an effort to restore and revitalize the Dallas Trinity Channel area.

“The city hopes to begin soliciting bids for a two-mile concrete section for the Trinity Trail later this summer,” stated Michael Hellman, park planning manager for Dallas Park and Recreation Department in the July Issue of the Dallas Business Journal.

Laser Image has agreed to deed the back-end of its property for the arrival of the new trail. “When I was approached with the plans I immediately wanted to jump on board,” said Laser Image CEO and President Barbara Morris. “It's not only a great opportunity to bring up the neighborhood, it's a chance to be an active part of this city’s history.”

The construction of the first phase of the Trinity Strand project is estimated to take up to a year. But the city and its supporters of the Trinity Strand Trail hope to extend the trail up to 7.8 miles, allowing it to run along the old river channel and up into the Dallas Market Center.

When initiating any project there should always be some thought into the future and a point designated as an attainable goal or destination. Unfortunately, a great many IT projects have failed due to lack of planning and forethought because sadly, in the real world of business, enthusiasm doesn't always make up for lack of preparedness and skill when you realize you’ve bitten off more than you can chew. Any project or idea, whether in IT or business that's generated under fragmented planning is more than likely doomed to one inevitable end. Failure. Even the best of inventions or ideas may collapse needlessly without the proper attention and effort put forth right from the beginning.

But time and ingenuity is on our side...

Laser Image has, within its 20 plus years of operations, endeavored to rise above the statistics in order to say that not only are we the best at what we do but we intend to stay that way. And so now on the cusp of launching a new fresher looking website, we have also undergone a change of strategy in how we both think and do business. Go Green & Save Gas...In Your Underwear!

In an effort to contribute to “Going Green” awareness, the Laser Image IT department is stepping up its game and dropping its pants in order to help save the planet. That’s right, their pants! In an attempt to go green and save gas the Laser Image IT department has announced that in appreciation for all the hard work put forth by its team members, it would be implementing a work from home day.

Members of the department will have the opportunity each week to pick a day on which they would work from home. So for those who are scheduled to not come into the office, I’m sure that their dress code will significantly alter and some won’t even bother with showering on those particular days. (Who am I kidding? I know I wouldn’t!) But for those who are scheduled to come into the office we do hope that they remember, as I remind myself everyday, that pants are still a requirement at the office and showering is really not an option.

But major kudos to our IT department for a job well done and we hope they keep up the hard work…if not their pants!
